Britannia will be 141,000 tonnes with a length of 330 metres with 5772 persons on board, 1400 of these will be crew and 4372 guests.
These statistics make me think will some of the port of call be deep enough or have the facilities to cater for this size of ship? Surely PandO will not tender in more than 2 ports per Itinerary?
Flam in Norway states that its harbour facilities are upto standard and they have good tender facilities for larger ships. The port of Rotterdam is 75ft however Rotterdam is not widely used as a cruise port.
The ports of Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Malaga and Lisbon will more than likely be on Britannia's Itinerary, but what about the smaller ports in the Mediterranean, will they miss out or will they try to upgrade to allow for larger ship tenders.
Also with the cruise ship ban in Venice on the horizon where will PandO send Britannia?
Royal Caribbean's 'Allure of the Seas' will be in Europe in 2015 using Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) as her turn around ports and visiting the ports of Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Marseilles and Florence/Pisa and Allure will be bigger by 84000 tonnes than Britannia.
Well we will soon know...watch this space!!!!!
