Royal Caribbean's 'Golden BALLS' to Beckham

Cryptic title isn't it.

Royal Caribbean and David Beckham are in loggerheads about Beckhams' plans to build a 40,000 seat Major league soccer stadium in the port of Miami.

Beckham and investors want to build on the 12 acres site which currently has a car park, day care centre and an employee gym belonging to Royal Caribbean.

I can understand why RCCL are annoyed.  On a match day 40,000 people going to the game will cause huge traffic problems at Miami port.  If there are just three ships in the port on the same day of a planned match, that could mean that there will be approximately 12,000 passengers embarking and dis-embarking the ships along with the match day fans.

Transfer times will have to be reviewed and extra time will have to be planned for Royal Caribbean to pick up their guests from overnight hotels and also taxi's from Miami International airport will be disrupted.

Port director Bill Johnson has already toured Asia with plans for the entire redevelopment of the site which includes hotels, apartments, offices and expo space but, at the moment, no plans for a football stadium.

Beckham is looking to spread the popularity of MLS with a new Miami based team and stadium, however is there a better place to propose to build it?
