Would you cruise in the Caribbean in August?

Well it is that time of year again.  Weather reporters have predicted that the Atlantic hurricane season will be 'normal or below normal' for 2014



What is a 'normal' hurricane though?

There are many cruise lines who have their ships sailing out of American ports in August and September and their Itinerary is the Caribbean where these hurricanes can hit!

Why do the ships go there if there is the potential of disruption?  The answer is they have knowhere else to go.  The ships Itineraries are planned out 18 months prior to sailing. You can get some great deals between July - October on Caribbean sailings and this is probably why. 

The best seaason to cruise to the Caribbean is November - March where the weather is hotter and the risk of any disruption is minimal.

The Americans have it better I suppose, what I mean is that they can look at the weather forcast and see how the weather looks and grab a last minuite deal to the Caribbean, with us Brits having to think about flying out to the States and hope that no hurricanes spoil out holday.

So the moral of the story is really to guarantee great weather in the Caribbean, book a sailing between mid October and end of March if you live in the U.K. or if you are on holiday in America in Summer time you might get a great bargain on a superb cruise line.
